Earlier this year we watched this clip from Rocky Balboa. We believe that this scene epitomizes the philosophy of this class. Rocky tells his son to go get what he is worth and don't make excuses for not succeeding. What are you worth as a person?
Did you know? The U.S. Bureau of Chemistry and Soils has one answer to the question, “what am I worth?” They have determined that the chemical and mineral composition of the human body is worth less than $5.00. Of highest value is the skin. The average person has between 14 to 18 square feet of skin, depending on his size, which is said to be worth about .25 cents a square foot.

Every single grade, from Pre-school to the end of seventh grade I wanted to be first. First in line, first to class, top of the ladder......
ReplyDeleteBut I miss me. When ever I climb the ladder by stepping on someone else i feel bad. I can't make fun of someone for feeling bad for what I have done. I feel remorse everytime I am not me.
Everytime I am not me, or I step on someone else who I am not "supposed" to give a bleep for, or climb the social ladder; I feel remorse for myself.
Look up regret and you will see little true and mostly bleep. Most of it is from sneaking, taking something from someone, making them cry, ricking someone into any kind of treachery. It usually hurts alot.

Nice writing Ryan, and I agree with you. I always want to be first. I want to be the name called out for the award. I want to be the one recognized for something that I think is worth being recognized, but I forget about those who never get they're names mentioned and have something to show. ~Rachael
ReplyDeleteI think you always have to find the true values in life. Without them you don't know where or who or even what you are. It is also hard to make excuses for not succeding. For instance if you are bowling and you throw a gutter what are the chances your gonna go man that was all my fault, chances are you will blame the ally or the ball or your shoes were sticky. Realize your true potential in life and get what your worth. No one can tell you how much you are worth except yourself and the U.S. Bureau of chemistry and soils. You are all scientifically worth 5 dollars. But you set your worth morrally. If you set yourself as nothing to you you are nothing and I think that is what Peter did in 19 minutes and he just couldn't stand being set at zero for him. His mother set him at the top of the charts but Matt said other wise and dragged him to the bottom. It is cruel having your value level set for you but you can't let people do that.

PS-Sorry about the bowling annalogy. I obviossly bowl too much.
I also agree Ryan I am almost always thinking when they are giving out bowling trophies (here I go with the bowling) when my name is on every list yet they only give me one trophy I get ticked. Its mean but I feal I rightfully diserve those trophies. Yet I can just imagine all the little kids going to their moms and saying "why didn't I get a trophy.

Hahaha bowling. Alex you're pretty funny. Sorry I don't really get the chance to talk to you in school. You seem really nice.

Alex, your post is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAlex, what a thoughtful response. I admire how you can't be swayed from your convictions.

I feel everyone has something special to bring to the table rather it be intellegence, hardworing skills, etc.. No one is able to say "I am not good at anything or I have no porpose in life", because you all are able to bring delious food to the table. With those delious food everyone is able to try out a taste of everyones foods. I feel that everyone in our "family" is so different that it helps our class learn so much more because we can stregthen our weaknesses by learning from others in our class.

Me? i don't really think im worth much maybe couple pennies haha just kidding. SErious i do not think im worth much i think a lot of people hold gruges with me and think im a complete jerk. Im not total sure about the gruge part but i really really think im a jerk to people and i really need to knock it off or im going to get im butt kicked in high school so if you ask anyone of my friends they'll probably say im worth something but if you ask me im not worth much.
ReplyDeletePedano!
How much do you think I'm worth? I can name any price I want but it's the buyer of the product that names the price. I should be on the price is right and have who ever hosting show come out and say how much? and then the people on the floor say "$ 3" "$ 2" "$ 2.50" "$ 2.51".
ReplyDelete---Trent( who also like bowling, alex we should totally go sometime) Knight
To me, what im worth is sometimes not that much and other times i think im worth something. But the way i act to others and how i treat and percieve myself is really how much im worth. My friends would say im worth something and there right but it means something when i know how much im worth.

I like what I have.
ReplyDeleteI can't have it all, and I don't want it. I don't really mind when someone else is better than me, ecxept when their not better me and people just think they are.
I'm capable of great things just like everyone else. I don't even break a sweat thinking about that.
RYAN YOUR COMMENT IS AWESOME
There are sometimes where I wonder what it would be like to be someone else but I always come to the conclusion of nah i would rather be me, and if I want something, I can get it.
If I want to be stronger faster, improve my shot in basketball, all I have to do is practice.
If I want to get better grades all I have to do is try alot harder.
Everything is thing I'm ever going to need is there for me to use, it's just a matter of time, motivation, and intrest.

ReplyDeleteNot much. but i don't like me. i don't think many people like me either. every one can act normal, but me, i'm a screwed up child. i always feel like i can't fit in or that i'm not worth living. many other people who deserve to live- and had died. but me, not even having a purpose in the world (just here as an ugly deceration) am alive. i can't even look in a mirror and point and say 'eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!' or make a face anymore.
