Your parents reluctantly permit you to go to a party after you promise there will be no alcohol or other drugs. Your date's older brother is driving. After an hour you notice that he's on his third can of beer. Nobody else at the party has a car. What do you do?

ReplyDeleteI would talk to my date and ask her when she want to leave and tell about her older bother.if she want to leave now if it not to fair i would walk home under the moon light and stars, but if it is fair i would ask my sister to come and pick us up and not to tell mom and dad.

I would just call my parents and say could you come and get me from the party. If they ask why i'd just say the person who was sapose to drive me home is drunk. With my parents they would rather have me tell them the truth than lie to them and have me get in even more trouble.

I would call home and pretend to "argue" with my parents saying stuff like,"Mom! i don't want to go home!! What?! No!! URghhh FINE!!" and hang up. My parents and i have talked about this and they always said that if i want to come home or if i don't feel comfortable there then to call home and "argue" with them so they know to come pick me up. Or i could always text them.

ReplyDeleteIf I went to a party and my Girlfriends brother was drinking I would be like come on girl lets get out of here your brother is slamming down beers and it wouldnt be safe if we went in the car with him. No matter what she said I would leave the party with or without her. I would also give her brother a talk about he should stop drinking and get himself together because I would want my girl to get home safely. If I would find out she wasnt I would teach him a few lessons the hard way.

I'm going to a party, my girlfriend's bro is nice enough to give me a ride. I'm in the car when I notice he's on his third can of beer.
FIRST
Get my seatbelt and make sure my girlfriend's one is on. TIGHT
Second, I would get out of the car ASAP, If I can convince girlfriend to come with me, we'll walk to safey, orrr if I can convince the drunken bro to let me drive, license or no license (depending on whatever age I am, I hope I have a liscense, but that wasn't descripted in the scenerio, must look at all possibilites) I'm not sure wether or not I'd go to the party, it would depend on who would be there Maybe I should go to look after someone, but the next day I would talk to the brother, no matter how old he is, I would attempt to get through and reason with him.
But if I can add, just because he drunk three beers doesn't mean he's nessesiraly drunk. He's breaking the law,yes, but depending weight, height, or age, he could be a little buzzed, but of course it's still dangerous. I believe that in the scenerio he's supposed to be drunk, so I went with it.
I'm not going to say that I know exactly what I would do if I was in that situation because I don't. The question gives us a basic overview of the situation, but there are so many things that could effect the outcome. If you were a very "shy" kind of person then you might not want to say anything becuase you really don't know them, but others in this situation that are less "shy" would probably just tell there date that they are going to leave. Their are other factors that effect this too, like say your date was like Matt Royston....He runs the show for Josie. She does everything he wants to do because he is abusive. So if you had a date that was abusive you aren't going to say anyhing about his/her brother.

In this situation....It would really depend on who I was with and what my relationship was with them, because I might be pressured by other people who are their to say, but the bottom line is that I would find a way, either walking or calling a friend or a family member, to get away from that house.......Even if I have to sneak out the bathroom window! Drunk Driving stinks worse then a group of males after a bean eating contest. There's really only a hand full of thing to do and they've all been mentioned, either call another friend, call parents ( even though you would get in trouble it's better then dying) walk home or try to spend the night there. Trust me, being in a car with a drunk driver is a scary experience and should be avoided at all costs.

ReplyDeletewow. my parents literally just had this talk with me because of what happened to that shawnee kid. My parents and my doctor (i dont know why) said that we should make up a key word or phrase so if i called my parents and i said it they'd know i need to be picked up immediatly because there are drugs or alcohal at the party.and i would take that guys keys from him so he cant drive anywhere. imagine the guilt that you would have if he got in an accident when you knew he was drinking and you didnt do anything to stop him from getting in that car. I dont know about you guys, but i wouldnt be able to live mith myself if that happened to me

I would call my mom or my sister to come pick me up immediately! I wouldn't want to risk my safety because I wasn't responsible. I would rather be in trouble with my parents for attending a party with alcohol than being killed or hurt driving with a drunk driver.

ReplyDeleteif i were in this situation i would have a lot of options. i could call my brother mike, illia, randy, scott, amy, justin, and cate. these people are older than me but i can trust them. they wont tell my mom but they will still have one of those "serious" talks. and probably mention that stuff like that happen when they were my age and it was the right thing to call them, blah blah blah. you get the point. i could trust them. but before i leave i would want to make sure that my friends are all safe too. even if they are drunk i would have whoever i mentioned up there take us back. i know they wouldn't mind.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Barber. I would probably still go home with that guy because of peer pressure. Plus i wouldn't know if i was intoxicated with alcohol myself so i wouldn't know any better. If i really didn't feel safe i would call one of my friends that i trust wouldn't tell my parents.

if i had went to a party and noticed the person that was driving was on his third beer i would just start walking home or i might get someone other than him to drive me home.I would never get in to a car with someone that has been drinking. ReplyDeleteI would call my parents right away. I wouldn't care if it was the first or 7th beer. I am not going to waste MY life on something as stupid as drunk driving. Once I see they have even had one beer at that party I'd say goodnight and call my parents. First of all I'm not going to get into legal trouble just to be seen with the so called "cool kids". And second of all my life matters too much to me and hopefully I would give others that light too.

I would call my parents right away. I wouldn't care if they grounded me or something else, I would just be thinking it would be better than laying in a hospital bed or a coffin for making a stupied decsion. I wouldn't put my life in that kind of risk, my life matters too much to me.
